Working from home is becoming more popular due to the flexibility and freedom it offers. Though this can be a dream come true for some, other challenges come with it, too. A home office may not have all the necessary equipment to provide the best work experience. This could include your desk, chair, computer setup, or lighting. Here are five essentials to upgrade your home office into a space that is comfortable and conducive to getting work done.

Home Office Upgrade #1: Cellphone stand

Whether it’s to send messages, answer calls, or check for one-time passwords, your cellphone is your constant companion. Give your mobile the space it deserves with a cellphone desk stand. While the stand photographed above looks pretty, you want one that cradles your device and lets you scroll, unlock, and type.

Home Office Upgrade #2: Headset

My husband heavily relies on (and I should soon invest in). This gadget is a must-have for those who do a lot of videoconferencing at home. Although earphones and earbuds serve a similar purpose, headsets are easier to set up and are less tiring on your ears. If you directly work with clients, get a set that doesn’t distract.

Home Office Upgrade #3: Ring light

Good lighting is imperative because we spend most of our working hours on video calls and webinars. Get ready for your closeup with a clip-on LED ring light that softly illuminates your face. I bought my ring light on Lazada in November of last year, and it’s one of my best home office upgrades.

Home Office Upgrade #4: Office chair

Your chair can make or break your workspace. An old worn-out chair will likely be uncomfortable to sit in and make work difficult. The right chair will help you relax and perform tasks faster. You want your chair to be comfortable and easy to adjust to your size, height, and weight. It also should have good back support and be well-built. Look for one with memory foam. My husband and I got executive office chairs, but the seats didn’t meet our expectations. So, we ended up spending more money on memory foam cushions.

Home Office Upgrade #5: Room scent

If you enjoy smelling liniments, you’ll want to invest in aromatherapy. Scented candles and reed diffusers also do the job, but I highly recommend humidifiers that use a water-based oil solution. I’ve experimented with different scents from Mia Maison. Working from home now feels like stepping inside a spa.

Final words

There is no doubt that working from home can be an advantage, but some factors can also make it challenging. The ideal space for you to work should be a comfortable place for you and your family. Invest in one of these five essential items, and you will be better equipped to make the most of your home office space.
